Tip: Try not to use semicolons, colons, or parentheses in fiction writing. They clutter things up, especially in ebooks. Stick with easier punctuation like periods, commas, question marks, etc.

Thought for the day: “I write fiction and I’m told it’s autobiography, I write autobiography and I’m told it’s fiction, so since I’m so dim and they’re so smart, let them decide what it is or it isn’t.” – Philip Roth

Jumpstart: Almost everyone has a superstition. We don’t walk under ladders, or cross paths with black cats. Hotels don’t use the thirteenth floor and we knock on wood. What are your superstitions? Created a character who lives entirely by his or her superstitions.
