Guest Blogger: Sherry Soule

My guest today is Sherry Soule talking about her new book.

What made you decide to become a writer?

’ve had an obsession with the written word since I held my first book in my hands at age seven.

How long did it take to get published the first time and how did it happen?

bout two years. Queried mostly agents and a few editors, and Harlequin Teen had some interest for a while, and then I decided to submit to indie publishers. In my heart, I knew the story had an audience. So, I worked on the novel with a freelance editor (Jennifer Hudock) to polish it. My debut novel, BEAUTIFULLY BROKEN finally found a home with Firelight Publishing.

What would you do differently the next time?

Nothing.

What advice would you give an aspiring author?

have blog devoted to writers: “Dark Angel Writing Tools” that has tons of advice for writers at any stage in their career, agent and author interviews, and insider publishing secrets. http://www.darkangelwritingtools.com/

What (or who) inspires or influences your writing?

Once a Witch by Carolyn MacCullough. The Iron Hunt by Marjorie M. Liu. ANYTHING written by YA author, Rachel Vincent. There are just too many to name.

Do you have any works in progress you’d like to tell us about?

Working in the sequel to BB now.

What is your latest release and when can we find them?

Quirky, Shiloh Ravenwolf is a sixteen-year-old heritage witch. She lives in the gloomy town of Whispering Pines, where teenagers have mystically disappeared for over ten years. When construction on Ravenhurst Manor unleashes a sinister evil, the body count rises. And Shiloh’s would-be boyfriend is next on the supernatural hit list. So, she decides it’s her duty and Destiny (Yes, with a capital “D”) to find out what is causing the unexplained phenomena.

After you got your first contract, were you asked to do revisions?

Not many. The MS had been professionally edited by 2 professional editors.

How long have you been writing professionally?

Thirteen years.

What do you do for fun when you are not writing?

Watching scary movies or catching up on my favorite TV shows saved on my DVR. I watch SUPERNATURAL, Vampire Diaries, TrueBlood, Game of Thrones, and I can’t wait for CW’s new series “The Secret Circle” about witches. Yay!

Do you write full-time or part-time?

Full time

Where do you reside?

Whispering pines, CA

Back Jacket Blurb:

They say every town has its secrets, but that doesn’t even begin to describe Whispering Pines. The townsfolk are a superstitious lot and the mystical disappearance of a local teen has everyone murmuring about a centuries old witch’s curse.

Sixteen-year-old Shiloh Ravenwolf is a heritage witch from the Broussard family, a family both destined and cursed. When she takes a summer job at Ravenhurst Manor, she discovers a ghost with an agenda. That’s where she meets the new town hottie, Trent Donovan, and immediately becomes spellbound by his charms.

Finally, Shiloh’s met someone who is supercute and totally into her, but Trent may be the next victim on the supernatural hit list. And Shiloh is the only person with the power to save him. Complicated much?

It sucks to have a destiny, especially since Shiloh would rather spend her summer being a normal girl who worries about clothes and boys, not the supernatural. But she’s never been normal and the stranger things become the more her own magical senses awaken.

With cryptic messages from a pesky wraith, she will begin to understand the mysterious significance of the strange mark branded on her wrist, and decide how much she’s willing to sacrifice to protect the other teenagers in town.

Unfortunately, for Shiloh, not all ghosts want help crossing over. Some want vengeance.
