I got a new contract from Liquid Silver for the next book in my “Gamblin’ on Love” series. The first one, The Turn of the Card, will be out on April 6th and is available for pre-order now (at a 20 percent discount!). The next one is called “Lovin’ the Odds”. All the stories in this series are futuristics, meaning they take place on other planets or in space. But the romance is still there. 🙂
I was introduced to my new editor this morning and I’m looking forward to getting to work on this new book. It will tentatively be out this summer sometime. All the books fall into the “novella” range in size, meaning they’re around 20-25000 words. Which is good for both the editor and me because it doesn’t take as long to edit.
And that’s a good thing. Because while I’m working on my own stuff, I’m also working as an editor on other people’s stuff. I am in heavy edit mode this month. Get it done and get it out. And I’m good with that. I find that the more I edit, the less I have to edit of my own stuff because I know what to look for.
Which is something you can do to help yourself. Some of the stories I am asked to look at either for edits or evaluations are horrible. Poor spelling, even worse punctuation, continuity issues, and more. So, I am asking all you authors out there – do yourself, and your poor overworked/underpaid editors a favor and learn the techniques of writing. Yes, telling a good story is important. Very important. But if nobody can, or wants to, read it because of the poor writing, then it will go nowhere.
And that’s my rant for today. 🙂
New freebie story on the freebie page. Enjoy.
